It was a fascinating process in which this cultivated park was created, which was open to all citizens. In the 18th century, Count Karl Paul Ernst zu Bentheim-Steinfurt had this exotic garden landscape built as a "pleasure garden" and fulfilled his dream of the gardens of this world!

The Egyptian tower, the Turkish mosque, the Chinese salon, the bathhouse and opulent water features made the grounds a very special and breathtaking place at the time. A very special attraction was the concert gallery built in 1774 - the oldest free-standing concert hall on the European continent. This gem was reopened in 1997 after extensive reconstruction of the Louis XVI-style stucco decorations and now functions as an exclusive concert gallery for international concerts.
