Hofrichter and Rentmeister Casper Kestering shares with you stories and facts from everyday life, from the founding of the first brand cooperatives around 700 years after Christ, right into the 20th century: About the beginning of a trade route, border workers in search of money and happiness, about life as a student who had to move from Steinfurt to the Netherlands - and of course about royal Dutch visits to Steinfurt Castle!

More than 30 members of the Kunstverein Steinfurt will be thinking about the theme of KONTRASTE and realising it in their own individual way and technique. It will be exciting to see the wide range of creativity.

For the St. Nicholas market in Burgsteinfurt on 4 May and 6 December 2026, there will also be an art market in the Huck-Beifang-Haus "Kunst & Krempel", where not only works of art will be sold, but also other beautiful things. There will also be punch and snacks.

The Steinfurt music quartet has been on the road for more than 20 years, performing at city festivals, private parties and other events in the region. The four never tire of interpreting new songs in their own way. With guitar, bass, percussion and the very variable flute, which often takes over the solo parts, Klangfarben has developed a typical sound that also lives and benefits from the four-part vocals. In 2018, Klangfarben won 3rd prize in the "Steinfurt sings" competition with the Low German translation "dat Wunner van Wielt", freely adapted from Louis Armstrong. Louis Schneider, a member of the Kunstverein Steinfurt, has been professionally involved with textile art all his life. He has worked internationally as a designer for upholstery fabrics. The artist, who now lives in Laer, alters his designs and creates works of art from them. They serve him as the basis for the development of further pictures.

In this lecture, he not only talks about these motifs, but also about the technical development of textile art, especially the Jaquard technique and its political impact, especially in Great Britain, where the weavers fiercely resisted the new technique. An informative and varied afternoon awaits you
